family_type_for_afford_esi

Indicates the applicable family premium used to determine whether family coverage is affordable. Example: two parents with two kids eligible for Medicaid have family_type_for_afford_esi of “dual” as children would be ineligible for subsidies. This only exists for those eligible for ESI thru their employer.

prem_type

I don’t know! Ask Jason and/or Ian! Maybe it has to do with premium type of policy holder?

ind_income

Individual income

ind_fpl

Confirm with Jason, but this sounds like FPL base on individual income assuming single-person-family

use fpl for those whose person_type is < 4. You also use fpl for those whose person_type is 4 or higher AND who are tax_dependent=1. And then you use ind_fpl for those whose person_type is 4 or higher AND who are tax_dependent=0. I would recommend creating a TIAC variable to make this a little more straightforward and then using fpl for those who are not TIACs and ind_fpl for those who are.
